Privacy Policy
B. Mason Law
Effective date: 10/01/2026
Scope
This policy explains how B. Mason Law (the Firm, we, us, or our) collects, uses, and discloses information through our website, online inquiry forms, and related communications. Information received in connection with prospective or existing representation remains subject to applicable confidentiality, privilege, and professional obligations. This policy does not diminish those obligations or replace an engagement agreement. Separate notices may apply to client portals or other services.
Information we collect
Information you provide. We collect the information you submit, which may include your name, email address, telephone number, message, and details about a potential legal matter. Please provide only the information needed for an initial inquiry and do not submit sensitive documents or detailed confidential information unless we request them through an appropriate channel.
Technical information. Our website and its hosting, security, and form providers may receive Internet Protocol addresses, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, referring pages, and diagnostic or security logs. The technologies described below may also collect information as specified in the completed tracking disclosures.
How we use information
We use information to respond to inquiries; evaluate whether we can assist and perform conflict checks; communicate with you; operate, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the website; analyze website use and improve the website and user experience; prevent spam, fraud, and misuse; maintain appropriate business records; and fulfill legal and professional obligations. Any use to protect rights, safety, or property is subject to applicable law and professional duties.
How we disclose information
We may provide information to vendors supporting hosting, online forms, intake, email, information technology, security, and spam prevention, to the extent appropriate for those services and permitted by applicable law and professional obligations. Our online inquiry form currently uses Clio Grow, and the Site uses Google Analytics as described below. Vendors may publish separate privacy notices; those notices do not relieve the Firm of its own obligations or authorize disclosures prohibited by law.
We may disclose information where legally required or otherwise lawfully permitted, including in response to legal process, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a lawful transfer or reorganization of the practice. Each disclosure is subject to applicable confidentiality, privilege, consent, and professional restrictions. A subpoena or request does not, by itself, authorize unrestricted disclosure of protected information. This policy is not a waiver of privilege or blanket consent to disclose confidential information.
Cookies and similar technologies
Our website and service providers may use cookies or similar technologies to operate forms, maintain functionality, prevent spam, and protect security. You may manage cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect website features.
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google (Google), to understand how visitors use the Site and improve the Site and user experience. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information about browser and device characteristics and activity on the Site, such as pages visited and interactions. Information is transmitted to Google for processing. Learn how Google uses information from websites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can also use Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on for supported browsers at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. The add-on does not prevent collection by other website tools.
Browser tracking signals and third party tracking
Our Site currently does not respond to “Do Not Track” (“DNT”) signals and operates as described in this Privacy Policy whether or not a DNT signal is received. If we do respond to DNT signals in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy to describe how we do so.
Third parties, including Google through the services used on the Site, may collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites. The collection and use of information depend on the services, their configuration, and your settings. Google’s notice linked above explains its practices and available choices.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are different mechanisms. The Firm’s current exemption from CCPA requirements does not eliminate the California Online Privacy Protection Act disclosures about browser tracking signals and third party tracking.
Confidentiality and representation
Submitting a form or sending a message does not, by itself, establish an attorney-client relationship or mean that we have agreed to handle your matter or protect a deadline. We ordinarily confirm accepted representation and its scope in a written engagement agreement. Do not rely on an unanswered inquiry for legal advice or deadline protection.
Applicable law may protect communications with prospective clients even if we do not accept representation or no engagement agreement is signed. We handle those communications consistent with applicable duties. Confidentiality and attorney-client privilege depend on the circumstances and applicable law; this policy does not waive either. Please avoid unsolicited sensitive information until we confirm an appropriate intake process. Internet communications cannot be guaranteed completely secure.
Data retention
We retain information only as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, considering the nature of the inquiry, conflict-check requirements, applicable legal and professional obligations, security needs, and legitimate dispute or record-keeping requirements. We may retain limited conflict-check records even when representation is declined. When information is no longer reasonably needed, we delete, securely dispose of, or deidentify it, subject to lawful preservation requirements and appropriate backup procedures.
Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. No transmission or storage system is completely secure. This statement does not waive any duty to maintain legally required safeguards or provide legally required notices of a security incident.
Privacy inquiries and requests
You may use the contact details below to inquire about your information or request access, correction, or deletion. We respond as required by applicable law and professional obligations. We may verify identity where appropriate, and may retain or restrict disclosure of information when legally permitted or required, including to protect privilege, another person’s information, conflict records, or legal claims. We will not unlawfully discriminate against anyone for exercising an applicable privacy right.
California privacy disclosures
The Firm is not currently subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act. The CCPA consumer request and opt-out requirements therefore do not currently apply to the Firm. Other applicable California privacy laws and our professional confidentiality obligations remain in effect. Our website tracking disclosures appear above. You may contact us with privacy inquiries and requests as described in this policy.
Children
The website is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through the public website. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted information, contact us so that we can address it consistent with applicable law. Information about a child supplied by an adult in connection with legal services is handled under applicable legal and professional obligations.
External websites and services
Links to independent third party websites may take you to services with separate privacy practices. Review their notices before providing information. Vendors processing information for the Firm are addressed in the disclosure section above; a third party link or notice does not eliminate our duties concerning information we collect or disclose.
Changes to this policy
We will post revisions on this page and update the effective date. When required by law, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent before applying materially different practices to previously collected information.
